Homework #2 Solution

The following applet can be used to determine the solution to homework #2 in ENME 770.  To solve the problem use the applet in the following manner:

1) Find the module cost and yield under the following conditions:

a)       Die dimensions are 250 x 350 mils - Press the "Default Data" button at the bottom of the applet and them press the "Compute" button.  Answer: $71.35, 30.1% yield.

b)       Die dimensions are 120 x 120 mils - Press the "Default Data" button at the bottom of the applet, change the die width and length to 120 mils, and them press the "Compute" button.  Answers:  $21.55, 74.45% yield.

Note, other answers to a) and b) are possible.  However, these are the minimum cost solutions.

2) If the die area is constrained to be 7x10-2 inch2 what is the aspect ratio of the die that minimizes the final module yielded cost? - Enter various combinations of die length and width and search for the lowest module cost.  The aspect ratio that minimizes the module cost is: 1.25 (i.e., 236.6 x 295.8 mil die), yielded cost of $157.91.

3) Starting with the default data, change the wafer diameter to 8 inches and the flat size to 0 (also change the wafer cost to $1300 and defect density to 0.09).  Answers: $53.52, 22.96% yield.
